The
NFM Main Furniture Store Buildings, and the nearby Mega-Mart, are the
heart of the NFM campus. The Main Furniture Store contains 291,000
square feet housing the furniture and flooring retail areas, corporate
offices, and customer service areas. The project required twelve phases
of construction, in order to allow NFM's retail sales, and
back-of-house operations to continue to fully function throughout the
2-year, $15 million construction project. KHA fully orchestrated the
phasing effort, reviewing proposed phasing plans with the owner and
contractor, and created phasing documents for the team to follow during
construction. Since the entire infrastructure was replaced, there was a
great deal of detailed analysis required as to what needed to be done
to keep all the building systems running properly, with partial old and
new infrastructure existing simultaneously.
