City of Omaha - Visitor's Center

The Greater Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau promotes the City of Omaha, especially as it relates to attracting conventions and other visitors. This project relocates their offices to a prominent corner of a historic building in Omaha’s Old Market District. Working offices and conference rooms are on the second floor, which is accessed via a central atrium core. The public space is on the main floor, directly accessed from the sidewalk, in order to promote the City of Omaha to visitors in the Old Market District. This area contains custom displays, murals, video, and touch-screen graphics which depict items of interest to visitors, and inform them of current and upcoming events in the area. This facility has the look-and-feel of an avant-garde shop juxtaposed against the backdrop of the late 19th century warehouse architecture, and is designed to generate excitement and interest by the public. Kenneth Hahn Architects also coordinated the efforts of the various display, signage, and equipment contractors.
