The NFM Main Furniture Store Buildings are at the heart of the NFM campus. The Main Furniture Store contains 291,000 square feet housing the furniture and flooring retail areas, corporate offices, and customer service areas. The $15 million project to expand and completely renovate the furniture store required twelve phases of construction in order to allow NFM's retail sales and back-of-house operations to continue to fully function throughout the 2-year project.  KHA fully orchestrated the phasing effort, reviewing proposed phasing plans with the owner and contractor, and created phasing documents for the team to follow during construction.

The retail building was expanded to the east, toward 72nd Street, and a new entrance at the south and north sides of the store were constructed.  Complete overhaul and expansion of the corporate offices were included.  During this project,  the entire infrastructure was replaced.  The company's data center was also relocated as part of this project.  KHA provided a detailed analysis as to what needed to be done to keep all the building systems running properly, with partial old and new infrastructure existing simultaneously.
